Finance Controller (Executive Appointment)

Cahercalla Community Care is now inviting applications for the position of a Finance Controller.

About the Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Board (via the Chair and/or Finance Sub‑Committee), the Finance Controller will provide independent financial oversight, strengthen financial governance and controls, and ensure transparent, compliant financial reporting across the organisation.

This is a hands‑on, high‑impact leadership role within a regulated, budget‑driven environment, with particular emphasis on cashflow planning and working capital management.

Key Priorities

  • Deliver accurate monthly management accounts, robust variance analysis, and clear reporting to the Board.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, rolling forecasts and multi‑year financial planning to support organisational sustainability and service priorities.
  • Take day‑to‑day ownership of cashflow forecasting, liquidity planning and working capital oversight, including scenario planning for the Board.
  • Ensure strong compliance with statutory, charity, Revenue and HSE reporting obligations; lead the year‑end audit process.
  • Provide financial oversight of payroll, pensions and core finance operations, including external providers and internal controls.
  • Provide financial modelling and analysis to support industrial relations and pay negotiations (e.g. SIPTU / INMO) within the organisation’s funding framework.
  • Support governance and accountability for charitable and fundraising income, including oversight of restricted and unrestricted funds and audit trails.

Person Attributes :

Essential

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
  • Senior experience in financial control, reporting, budgeting and engagement at Board level.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cashflow and working capital management within a tight, operational environment.
  • Strong governance mindset with proven ability to strengthen controls, risk management and financial transparency.

Desirable

  • Experience in not‑for‑profit, healthcare and/or regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with public funding arrangements or charitable income governance.

Working Arrangement:

The role requires a strong on‑site presence, particularly during the initial period, to support effective oversight, relationship‑building and engagement across the organisation.

Hybrid working arrangements may be considered following the successful completion of a six‑month probation period, subject to operational requirements and Board approval.

Remuneration:

A competitive package will be offered, commensurate with experience.
