Hours: Full-time

Overview of the Role

As an Activities Supervisor at Cahercalla Nursing Home, you will play a key role in creating a positive and engaging environment for our residents. Your role will involve supervising the activities team and coordinating a variety of programs to promote the residents’ happiness, well-being, and engagement. From organizing arts and crafts, and physical activities, to live entertainment, you will ensure that each activity caters to the diverse interests and needs of our residents.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage the activities team, including rostering and induction training.
  • Develop and execute a dynamic activities program that promotes social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical well-being.
  • Collaborate with residents, families, and staff to identify individual preferences, interests, and goals.
  • Organize and lead group activities while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Coordinate with volunteers, local artists, musicians, and other external resources to enhance the program.
  • Maintain and communicate a monthly calendar of activities to residents and staff.
  • Arrange travel for off-site activities, ensuring all necessary preparations are completed.
  • Document and maintain activity records, including resident participation and program evaluations.
  • Submit budgetary recommendations for equipment and supplies.
  • Monitor resident health during activities and provide reports to caregivers as needed.

Skills Required

  • Leadership and Staff Management: Ability to supervise and motivate a team effectively.
  • Activity Planning: Experience in designing engaging, inclusive, and stimulating programs.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities to interact with residents, families, and staff.
  • Flexibility and Initiative: Adaptability to meet the evolving needs of residents and take proactive steps to improve the program.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a healthcare or care home setting.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • A compassionate and patient-focused approach.
  • Garda vetting and satisfactory references are required.

As a Part-Time Activities Coordinator at Cahercalla Nursing Home, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging and meaningful activities that enhance the quality of life for our residents. Your role will involve organizing group and individual activities, promoting social interaction, and supporting residents’ mental and physical well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement activity programs that cater to the interests, abilities, and needs of residents.
  • Organize and lead group activities such as arts and crafts, music sessions, and physical exercises.
  • Collaborate with residents, families, and staff to create personalized activity plans.
  • Encourage resident participation in social events to promote inclusion and engagement.
  • Maintain activity records, including participation and feedback, to continuously improve programs.
  • Assist in arranging off-site activities, ensuring all safety and logistical requirements are met.
  • Work closely with volunteers and external contributors (e.g., musicians, artists) to enhance the activity program.
  • Communicate monthly activity schedules to residents and staff.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Relevant Qualification: A qualification in Healthcare or Social Care is desirable.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is an advantage.
  • Training: Completion of Sonas and Imagination Gym courses is desirable but not essential.
  • Personality: Enthusiastic, caring, reliable, and empathetic nature.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with a fluent level of English (both written and oral).
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to plan and execute engaging activities effectively.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and families to support resident needs.
