About the Role

We are looking for caring, empathetic and reliable Healthcare Assistants to join our nursing team.

Reports to:   Director of Nursing

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care:

  • Assist with daily hygiene needs while maintaining privacy and dignity
  • Support safe moving and handling of patients
  • Monitor patient safety and comfort
  • Help with feeding and drinking
  • Escort residents to appointments when required
  • Assist residents to Mass and activities

Catering:

  • Distribute meals throughout the day
  • Assist with feeding residents
  • Prepare and serve beverages
  • Collect trays and clean tables

Housekeeping:

  • Keep sluice and clinical areas clean and stocked
  • Report equipment issues
  • Replenish supplies

Administration:

  • Answer telephone calls
  • File documentation as directed
  • Distribute mail
  • Complete meal requests

Working Pattern

Rotational shifts covering 24-hour care including day and night duty, Monday to Sunday. Maximum flexibility required.

Requirements

Essential:

  • QQI Level 5 or enrolled to commence

Desirable:

  • Previous HCA experience
  • Experience in care of older persons

  • Flexible approach

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Nursing to lead our clinical team and ensure the delivery of exceptional care to our residents. This is a senior management position offering an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of older people in our community.

Key Responsibilities

Quality of Care

  • Ensure the highest standards of nursing and social care that meet individual resident needs
  • Implement and maintain the Company’s Quality of Care System
  • Ensure clinical practice meets all Regulations & Standards and HIQA requirements
  • Monitor clinical practice through individualized care plans
  • Conduct internal audits and quality improvement initiatives
  • Lead staff induction, training, and ongoing professional development
  • Promote innovative care practices

Financial Management

  • Oversee administrative procedures and budget management
  • Monitor resident fee income, funding sources, and financial records
  • Understand legislative requirements regarding financial affairs of mentally impaired residents

Leadership & Communication

  • Lead regular communication meetings with clinical staff
  • Build strong relationships with external community agencies
  • Facilitate resident participation in local community activities
  • Work with Marketing to enhance the Home’s community profile
  • Manage and document all complaints, investigations, and outcomes

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Implement Health and Safety policies to protect staff, residents, and visitors
  • Coordinate fire training and evacuation procedures
  • Ensure catering meets HACCP standards with highest quality and variety
  • Maintain exceptional hygiene and cleanliness standards
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs

Human Resources

  • Participate in staff recruitment and selection
  • Conduct training needs analysis
  • Ensure HR practices comply with current employment legislation
  • Verify all registered nurses maintain “live” NMBI Register status

Essential Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Registered General Nurse (RGN)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in care of the older person within the last 6 years
  • Post-registration management qualification in health or related field
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a management capacity in health and social care
  • Current registration on appropriate part of NMBI live register
  • Proven track record in healthcare clinical management
